Description

AMLOTEX-AT is generally the composition of two medicines – Amlodipine and Atenolol. The medicine comes in the form of tablets and is generally used for the treatment of hypertension. It is used to lower blood pressure. Here, Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that functions by relaxing blood vessels during hypertension, and atenolol acts as a beta-blocker that specifically works on the heart to slow down the heart rate and returns the heart pulses to a normal rate. Together, their action makes the heart more efficient at pumping blood and it improves the circulation of blood inside the vessels.

The mode of action of these tablets is simple as they widen the blood vessels, thus makes it easier for the blood to pass through the vessels and thereby lowers the blood pressure. Amlodipine and Atenolol tablets also helps to get relief from chest pain as it helps in improving the oxygenation and blood supply inside the blood vessels. These tablets should be swallowed with a glass of water and one can take this medicine with or without the intake of the food.

Contraindications of these medicines are to those who have lower blood pressure problems or those who have heart problems; they are not advised to take this medication. The consumer should take these tablets only as per prescription, as over dosage could lead to dizziness or even unconscious; there are also chances of excessive lowering of your blood pressure which is even more fatal.
